We have been providing online courses since 2017! Our online platform allows us to assign homework and provide additional resources. Our teachers are experienced at communicating well and clearly over video call. We understand that technology occasionally fails us and try to find solutions for problems on either side as quickly as possible!
Online classes are structured similarly to in-person learning. They are designed to fit each group's needs and levels, with instruction tailored to their needs.
FAQs
How many times do the students need to connect a week? Ultimately, the schedule is determined by the group's availability and goals. We recommend scheduling two hours a week to hit a 40 hour semester in 20 weeks (4-5 months).
How long does it take to complete a level? Levels 1 and 2 are structured as 40-hour courses. Please do remember that we will not push your students to finish in 40 hours if they have not mastered the content. Levels 3, 4, and 5 take about 60 hours.
What kind of Spanish will they learn? Our teachers are all native Hondurans, but they will teach general Spanish language and grammar for Latin America. How far can they study? We would love for the students to study with us until they reach full Spanish fluency. Our curriculum is divided into five levels, which they would reach in 3-5 years if they are studying in consistently. If an elementary student completes levels 1-4, we would begin them in level 1 of the adolescent curriculum. There will be repeated information but with greater depth and mastery.
When are your semesters? We are open year-round and work around your schedule! We are only closed the week before Easter, 4th of July week, the first or second week of October (Feriado Morazanico in Honduras), and from Christmas to New Years.
Do the students need to study outside of class time? Yes, our workbooks include additional independent practices that students should work on throughout the week to reinforce what they're learning in class.
Can they come visit Honduras? We have a study abroad program for students who have completed at least a full level of Spanish. If the family would like to visit the school together, or come and study for any period of time, we can arrange all that you need here in Siguatepeque.
How does the curriculum work? The curriculum is structured similarly to what one would find in public schools, but with a more in-depth structure that is fitted to the students' progression and interests. It is fully immersive (Spanish only).
